High-level disinfection and sterilization are complex processes, requiring initial and ongoing training of frontline staff. A key component of appropriate disinfection and sterilization is point-of-use pre-cleaning performed by front-line staff. Our facility implemented an annual hospital-wide education and competency program for staff that perform pre-cleaning of reusable medical devices.
