Um, we’re talking about FDA approved medications to treat opioid use disorder and alcohol use uh disorder um in combination hopefully with uh behavioral therapies, psychosocial uh treatments. So in conclusion, um as Dr. Goyer pointed out, we see that even uh short-term opioid prescriptions come with the risk of developing uh an opioid use disorder. Um, I I can say with with um medications for alcohol use disorder, we know that they’re widely underutilized just like medications for um for opioid use disorder. And uh detox is the type type of treatment uh for opio that people with opioid use disorder uh attend. Um, so methadone, which probably has some name recognition for everyone, has been FDA approved for uh opioid use disorder treatment uh since the early 70s. And then lastly, uh Nrexone, which actually treats alcohol use disorder and opioid use disorder, the only medication that treats uh multiple substance use disorders. Um, so this is a 25 yearear-old woman and uh when I talked to her, she was in treatment for opioid use disorder and she explained uh her experiences.
