The rational design and engineering of cathode materials capable of delivering high energy density, fast charge-discharge kinetics, and long-term structural stability across multiple aqueous energy-storage platforms remains a critical challenge, particularly for hybrid supercapacitors (HSCs) and aqueous alkaline zinc batteries (AZBs). Conventional transition-metal-based electrodes often suffer from limited electrical conductivity, sluggish ion diffusion, and pronounced capacity fading under repeated cycling. In the present research, CoV-layered double hydroxide (LDH) integrated with molybdenum telluride (CoV-LDH@MoTe) is rationally engineered to overcome these limitations and enable cross-platform electrochemical energy storage. The heterostructure construction establishes a robust interfacial contact between redox-active CoV-LDH and highly conductive MoTe, thereby facilitating rapid electron transport, enhancing electrolyte accessibility, and stabilizing the electroactive framework during prolonged operation. Moreover, the assembled HSC, configured with the CoV-LDH@MoTe as the cathode, delivers a specific capacitance of 230 F g at 1 A g. In parallel, the assembled AZB displays a high discharge capacity of 308 mAh g at 1 A g, well-defined discharge plateaus, and stable cycling performance over 1000 cycles. This study, therefore, demonstrates the effectiveness of heterostructure engineering in constructing a multifunctional cathode and provides a viable design strategy for high-performance aqueous energy-storage systems.
