According to the report, researchers found a significant positive correlation between increased exposure to glyphosate and the proliferation of Clostridium difficile (C. diff) in laboratory mice. The study demonstrated that glyphosate exposure disrupted the gut microbiome, leading to a decrease in beneficial bacteria and an increase in the pathogenic C. diff. Specifically, glyphosate treatment resulted in a 2. 3-fold increase in C. diff colonization compared to control groups. These findings suggest a potential mechanism by which glyphosate may contribute to the development of C. diff infections.
